This rare and proper 1965 Porsche 911 (S/N 300683) was originally sourced in Zurich, Switzerland in 1996. It was then restored by well-known Swiss specialist “Quiblier” and later fully rally prepped including an extensive engine/gearbox rebuild by Perry Motors in Sweden (chief mechanic for the works 1960s/70s Porsche drivers Bjorn Waldegard and Ake Andersson). Over 100,000 euros (nearly $140,000 USD at time of writing) was invested into the car. The ‘65 911 was then entered in historic rally events around Europe from 1996-2000 (clearly shown by the event decals on the driver’s side rear quarter window) including:  San Remo Italia, Rally Bavaria Germany, Viking Norway, 1000 Lake Rally Finland, and Verona Italy. Its present condition shows the care and time that was invested in the car before and after each of the above events.

All numbers for the chassis, engine, and transmission are correct. The engine is setup to correct Group 2 regulation from 1965 including 2.0-liter (1991 cc) flat-6 engine, Carrera 6 camshafts, Solex carburetors. It develops 180-185 hp. The 5-speed gearbox is a close ratio rally setup (with Sport-Axle: changeable 2nd gear) with a 5th gear ratio that gives the 911 a top speed of 120 mph (194 km/h) at 8000 RPM (more details below). It also features a reinforced clutch and a limited slip differential.

Other features include: 22/28 mm torsion bars, sway bars, Bilstein dampers, FIA specification fuel tank, FIA specification roll cage, fiberglass side/rear windows, OMP rally seats with TRW harnesses, rear helmet bags, aluminum footrest. Fuchs alloy wheels, rally tools in front trunk, fire extinguisher, heated windshield with additional defroster.

Overall, this is a well-prepared and maintained, proper FIA 1965 Porsche 911. It is rust free and solid. It is the perfect car for the casual Porsche/rally enthusiast to own and enjoy or for the hardcore historic rally participant to use in competition.
