The 1958 Lincoln Continental Mark III was one of the largest cars ever made and is one of the largest unibody cars ever developed. It set the standard for American build quality and styling excess in the late 1950s and was the high water mark for Continental in terms of size, weight, and visual impact. In the 1950s, Ford was a private company and the Continental brand was on the rise. Ford spent huge resources developing Continental as their halo brand. After Ford went public in January of 1956, losing money for the sake of development was no longer tolerated, especially by the new shareholders. The 1950s recession that hit America didn't help the situation either. Additionally, Ford lost money on every Continental Mark III they produced. Because of all these factors, only 5,891 of the over-the-top, money-losing Continental Mark III Landau Hardtop Sedan examples rolled off the line in 1958.

Presented in the original Arrow Head Blue Metallic, this Continental Mark III Landau Hardtop Sedan is in remarkable condition for its age. It is equipped with power seats, power windows (and power vent windows), electric truck release, and power antenna as well as the standard power steering and AM radio. The power rear Landau window operates perfectly and gives a spacious, airy feeling to the interior of the car when motoring down the road with all the windows open. The body has had a repaint of the original blue some years ago and still shows well, with some minor blemishes. Overall this Continental is a very clean example with consistent body gaps. The cloth and leather interior is original and shows well, with some checking and wear on the front seat due to age. The dash controls are all functional and in good condition, the most notable blemish being a crack in the glass that covers the gauges. The engine fires right up with no hesitation and idles smoothly. The original spare and jack are present in the trunk.
