This 1964 Porsche 356C Cabriolet was restored in the late 1990s and completed in 2000. At that time, it was owned by the late Kirk Stowers—a noted 356 specialist in Florida. The extensive and thorough work performed by Kirk includes the rebuild/upgrading of the engine (715855, non original) to ‘SC’ spec. The car was also upgraded to a 12 volt system. Upon completion, Kirk went on to show the Porsche at the Florida Owners Group annual meet in November of 2000.  The results were impressive, with two awards being given for “Best C” and “Peoples Choice”.  It was at this event that a Fox Motorsports’ client saw the 356 and purchased it for use in Florida.  It remained in Florida and under the care of Kirk Stowers until 2011, covering approximately 4,000 miles.  On May 22, 2011 Kirk passed away.

In July of 2011, the 356 made its way to Fox Motorsports for continued use by our client in Michigan. The 356 has been maintained to the highest standards, with extensive service and annual fluid changes being done regardless of miles driven. Current mileage since restoration is approximately 5,200. Some of the service highlights at Fox Motorsports include:

-Compression and leak down test upon arrival to Fox Motorsports (2011)
-Annual oil and brake fluid changes
-Rebuilt carbs (2011)
-New fuel pump and fuel system cleaning/maintenance (2011)
-New tires, as previous tires were past service date (2011)
-New brake master cylinder (2011)
-Rebuilt transmission with new syncros (2013)

The current condition of the 356 is excellent.  The paint is very nice and has been given regular waxing and detailing. It has always been stored in a climate-controlled environment and on a battery trickle charger when not in use. The exterior does have a couple of minor imperfections but they are only noticeable under very close scrutiny.  The interior is excellent, showing only very minor wear. The underside of the car is also very good, with only minor browning of a few nuts and bolts.

This 356 is an excellent running/driving example.  It is a joy to drive and would make a wonderful addition to any garage, whether for show or just to enjoy on the road.
