This 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet was built in Germany in October of 2001 and sold new at Len Stoler Porsche in Owings Mills, Maryland in May of 2002. The original MSRP was $91,630. It has been under the same meticulous owner since 2006. He bought it from his brother-in-law. The Porsche has been regularly serviced using only Mahl oil filters and Mobil 1 synthetic oil (including cutting open oil filters and inspecting at each service). The Michelin Pilot Sport tires have excellent tread depth. The 911 has always been properly stored and connected to a battery trickle charger. The previous owner added Fabspeed stainless mufflers (original mufflers boxed and included, see photos) and a B&M short-throw shifter. The B&M setup make this the best shifting 996-era 911 models we’ve ever come across. Other than those two additions, the 911 is 100% stock.
It is in excellent condition inside and out. The front of the car has a few small stone chips, consistent with the miles. There are two small nicks (touched-up and nearly hidden) where the hard top anchors lightly touched the paint during a previous removal or install of the hard top. The interior of the car is also excellent, with only minor wear on the driver’s seat bolster and the passenger inside door handle. Included are all keys, books, records, wind blocker, hard top, tool roll, jack, spare tire, and original factory Porsche mufflers.
The 996-generation Porsche 911 was first introduced for the 1999 model year in the USA. For 2002, the car received significant updates (making 2002+ vehicles the second-generation or mk2 996). A new front fascia (including much nicer headlights) was introduced. This decreased front-end lift at speed. The engine size was increased from 3.4 to 3.6-liters, resulting in a bump in output to 315 hp (and torque went from 258 to 273 lb-ft). A glass rear window was also added to convertible models (replacing the inferior plastic setup). Inside, the 2002 911 received quality updates including a glovebox (not previously fitted) and electric (vs. manual) front trunk and rear engine compartment releases.
