This 1949 Packard Eight Club Sedan is in very good, original condition. It has seldom been driven and the condition substantiates claims of 12,399 miles being original. It is a wonderful example of a factory correct, as-built Packard from 1949. It starts, runs, and drives well and has been fully inspected and serviced by Fox Motorsports.

This Packard was delivered June 17, 1949 to Ted S. of Chicago, Illinois by Northwest Side Motors, Inc. It was driven sparingly as Ted rode the bus to work, where he was a machine operator for Inland Press. Insurance slips exist from new through June 1959. Ted then sold the Packard to his neighbor, Jerome M, who continued to look after the car to the same high standard. Jerome then sold the Packard to his son-in-law, Mitch J, sometime before 1981. Mitch kept the car until finally selling it to an excellent client of Fox Motorsports in 2002. Since acquiring the car from our client, Fox Motorsports has kept the Packard in climate-controlled storage on a battery tender, serviced the fluids, rebuilt the fuel pump, replaced the battery, and rebuilt the brakes.

The original Egyptian Sand paint shows well with wonderful patina, a few touched-up spots, and minor flaws. The chrome/stainless trim is original and in good condition, with some pitting and minor wear. The Packard retains all factory drain holes, body seams, and original metal. There is no bodywork or filler and the car has never been repainted. Paint gauge measurements show consistent 3-6 mil readings over the entire body. The underside of the car is solid and virtually untouched since new. It has surface browning due to many years of sitting.  The engine starts right up and runs smoothly & quietly. The engine and some of the metal in the engine compartment have turned brown due to age.

The interior is extremely clean, with very little wear and only one minor burn on the passenger side of the front seat. A second set of wheels and tires (said to be the original wheels/tires to the car) are included, along with the original owner’s manual; 1949 Packard brochure; original service policy; jack/lug wrenches; and some insurance & service records.
